Colin Bailey
Ice Hockey Director
Coach Colin Bailey grew up in Wausau, WI where he eventually went on to have a successful, but short playing career which ended early due to injuries. Bailey discovered a passion for coaching early, beginning by working at Heartland Hockey Camp at the age of 12. When the time came to hang up the skates, Bailey jumped into coaching immediately, starting at the youth ranks with the bantam program, and eventually the high school program at Northern Lakes in Breezy Point, MN. Coach Bailey then returned home to Wausau, WI to assist with the Wausau RiverWolves (currently Cyclones) in the NA3HL. He was quickly promoted to Head Coach at the age of 22, and began his first season as a Head Coach at the age of 23. Bailey served as the Head Coach for parts of the next 4 seasons, undergoing a rebrand as the Wausau Cyclones (NA3HL), and bringing the Cyclones to a playoff appearance in their inaugural season. During his time in Wausau, Bailey also served as a scout for the Minot Minotauros in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). While in Wausau, Bailey elevated the Cyclones program from a record of 6-33-1 to a program best 21-24-1-1, which included the first playoff appearance in franchise history.
In the fall of 2022, Bailey received an opportunity to become the Assistant Coach for the St. Scholastica Men’s Hockey Team, an offer he gladly accepted and a role that he currently holds. In the ‘22-’23 season, Bailey assisted the Saints to an overall record of 17-7-3 (.685), a MIAC conference record of 13-1-2 (.875) and St. Scholastica’s first MIAC Regular Season Championship in any sport. During the ‘23-’24 season, the Saints found themselves ranked as the #2 ranked team in the nation after starting the season 10-0. With the Saints, Bailey runs the defense, penalty kill, and is also the recruiting coordinator. In addition to his regular season career, Bailey has served as Director of Hockey, and Head Coach for Heartland Hockey Camp for the past 10 summers, working as a coach at camps for the past 15 summers. Bailey is also a Level 4 USA Hockey Certified Coach. Coach Bailey currently lives in Superior, WI with his fiancee, Lexie and two dogs, Huey and Lula. In his spare time when he is not at the rink, he enjoys lifting weights, mountain biking, and spending time with his family.
