What type of camper attends Kents Hill Sports Camp?
Our campers range in age from 8-16 and are from all over the world. A Kents Hill Sports Camper wants a full camp experience packed into a shorter session. All of our campers have different ability levels, but they all love their major activity and are looking for a mix of instruction, games, and competition.
What makes Kents Hill Sports Camp's program successful?
We allow our campers to select the activities they want to participate in. Our campers “major” in the sport of their choice, allowing them to be grouped with girls of similar interests. After they select an assortment of minors (over 20 to choose from) they receive a customized weekly schedule. Campers also have 2 elective periods daily, allowing them to try new sports and activities.
Who are the Kents Hill Sports Camp coaches & counselors?
Our coaches have either been college athletes or coaches on the high school or collegiate level. Our dorm counselors are college age students or older and are from all over the country. They have strong morals and values and experience working with children. All of our staff members undergo an extensive hiring process.
What are the living accommodations like?
We live in dorm rooms at Kents Hill Sports Camp. Each dorm floor is age appropriate and we make sure that each camper is paired with a girl of similar likes and personality. We also honor room requests if you come to camp with a friend. There are bathrooms and showers on each floor and each dorm has common areas where the campers can hang out together.
What is the food like?
The food is awesome! We think that choice is important at all meals. Breakfast will have a hot option (pancakes, french toast, eggs, etc.) along with daily cereal, fruit, and oatmeal. Lunch and dinner will serve an entree (protein), along with a full salad bar, a pasta option, and homemade soups daily. We have a weekly cookout where campers can eat outside on the deck of the brand new dining hall.
What else do we do at camp besides play sports?
Sports are obviously a big part of camp, but we have so many other things going on as well! We offer an extensive choice of minor activities, such as waterskiing, fitness, arts & crafts, archery, and yoga to name a few. We also go on trips to amusement and waterparks, white water rafting, and a minor league baseball game. Our in camp special activities include campfires (complete with s’mores), carnival, and color war.
What do we do after dinner?
We always have a fun evening activity which is grouped by division. Before bed, each camper receives a snack and can hang out in their dorm lobbies.
How can parents communicate with Kents Hill to find out how their child is doing during the summer?
Campers call home once a week and we encourage parents to call camp anytime for a progress report. Campers also have mandatory letter writing once per week.
What kind of medical care is available at camp?
We have a resident nurse who is with us the entire summer (24 hours a day). The urgent care center and hospital are located 20 minutes away from camp. We also utilize tele-health physician visits.
What is your policy with electronics?
We do not allow campers to bring electronics to camp. The camp provides iPods and Speakers for music to be played both on the fields and in the dorms.
